Steve's first-bought single was "Only Sixteen" by Craig Douglas in 1959.
He travelled to a record shop in Lewisham from New Cross Gate in south London on a 36 bus with his Auntie Gertie.
It was number one and easily out-sold Sam Cooke's American original. It was recorded at Abbey Road Studios, and the whistling is by Mike Sammes who, 15 years later, in the same studio, sang the mmmms and boom, boom, boom-booms for Steve on Mr Soft.

"Ball Park Incident" by Wizzard was first single I bought with my own hard earned paper round money way back in 72, still got it, hasn't been played probably since the seventies so its about time I dusted it off for a spin!

First album is a pretty cool one though...Queens Night At The Opera which is still my 2nd fav of all time after Timeless Flight.
